40 over 40

Sometimes I think I should have been born 70 years ago. Computers are great in many ways, but they pushed aside two things I love–hand drafted floor plans and film photography. I was lamenting this to my friend, Phil Bode, a few years ago and said “I just wish I had an old Hasselblad camera so I could play with film again.”
Low and behold, he had one he wanted to sell. Although the thought crossed my mind that it might end up becoming an expensive bookend, I decided to buy the camera anyway. I then came up with a project–to photograph 40 women over 40 years old.

This is a work in progress. The following are my photos along with a personal motto, philosophy, or quote chosen by each woman. If you are interested in being part my project, let me know. I’d love to add you and your words.

“A good life is a collection of happy moments.” ~Lori
“Age is just a number'” ~Kim
“In all things give thanks.” ~Norma
“Everything will be okay in the end. And if it’s not okay, it’s not the end.” (John Lennon) ~Chris
“A work in progress.” ~Wendy
“Happiness is an inside job.” ~Jenee

“Still having fun!” ~Bonnie
“With mirth and laughter, let old wrinkles come. And let my liver heat with wine than my heart cool with mortifying groans.” (Shakespeare) ~Heather
“Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.” ~Sanita
“Never say never!” ~Sharon
“You do not have to be good.” (Mary Oliver, Wild Geese) ~Pam
“I’m a whole lotta Sagittarius with a heavy dose of Jupiter.” ~Karyn
“Life is better when you dance.” ~Karen

  1. For me, it’s a typewriter. I’d want to type a book in one. There’s something about old technology..

Such a nice project. All the best to reaching your goal and beyond. I love the quotes.
